Fred Kiel, Ph.D. - Return On Character

Fred Kiel, Ph.D. will present his newest research, Return on Character, published in 2015 by the Harvard Business Review Press.
HCM members $15; non-members $20

In a seven-year study of executive teams at Fortune 500 companies, Kiel's book shows how CEO and leadership teams' character impacts the bottom line, reduces risk, and engages the workforce. The research study found that CEOs whose employees gave them high marks for character had a better return on assets,  nearly five times as much as what those with low character ratings had.

Kiel and his colleagues surveyed 8,500 employees at 84 companies in the U.S., asking them to rate their CEOs. They also analyzed the organizations’ financial results. The leaders’ marks ranged from what Kiel calls "virtuoso" to "self-focused."

Kiel is co-founder of KRW International, a leadership management consultancy, co-author of the influential book, Moral Intelligence 2.0, and speaker of the popular TED Talk, "Psychopaths in the C-Suite". He believes in a world where leadership character is fundamental to business education programs and performance evaluation processes.

Attendees will be invited to walk through an assessment of a senior team they have worked with to understand where that team would fall along the character curve from the Return on Character research findings.

Dr. Kiel will be happy to sign copies of his book. You may buy a copy from your favorite bookseller and bring it to the event or you may purchase at the event.
