Transforming Audacious Ideas into Successful Programs

Conceptualizing a novel idea that seems audacious may come easy for some, but transforming those ideas into successful programs is no easy task.  Our guest speaker, Andres Hortillosa, lives by the idiom, "Fortune Favors the Bold".  When Andres came to the U.S. in 1987, he only had $130 in his pocket.  He did not have much, but he did have the boldness to come up with audacious ideas that inspired him throughout his lifetime.  He's a passionate, driven person and promotes innovative thinking.  On August 20 Andres will share the lessons learned from great thinkers such as Roger Bannister, Elon Musk and the like as well as share his personal experiences on how to go about transforming audacious ideas into successful programs.

Andres is the 2014 endorsed Republican candidate for State Representative in district 63B, covering northeast Richfield, Fort Snelling and south Minneapolis.  He served in the U.S. Army and retired in 2007.  Andres is currently the President of Smart Learning, Inc., a company that creates learning tools for smartphones and tablets.  He is a niche innovator of Chess application and was the first to innovate in his industry.

Andres is also a published author and chess theorist.  He explores in his book, "Improve Your Chess at Any Age", detailed methods of preparation, getting the best out of all the available sources; and numerous techniques such as capitalizing on mistakes, eliminating blunders, sticking to plans and minimizing harmful bias.  His book was published by a British imprint of Random House in 2009.
