Dr. Patterson is an Associate Professor of English and African American Studies, and Director of the African American Studies Program at Georgetown University. His talk will be based on research and writing from his co-edited volume, The Psychic Hold of Slavery: Legacies in American Expressive Culture, and his first book, Exodus Politics: Civil Rights and Leadership in African American Literature and Culture.
