The Harvard Alumni Association is partnering with HarvardX (Harvard’s interactive, online learning platform) to offer, exclusively for Harvard alumni who want to sample a variety of HarvardX courses, seven individual 30-60 minute online video lectures by Harvard faculty members. The video lectures will be posted online every two weeks from March 22 to June 14, 2014, and will be accompanied by posted readings and supplementary materials. Lecture topics will be the following:

 Neuroscience, with David Cox
Poetry in America, with Elisa New
 Einstein Revolution, with Peter Galison
The Ancient Greek Hero, with Gregory Nagy
ChinaX, with Peter Bol and William Kirby
 Tangible Things, with Laurel Ulrich
 Computer Science, with David Malan

The Harvard Club of Minnesota is forming a discussion group to gather to watch each video together, with viewing followed by discussion and refreshments.

In order to be able to access the online video lecture and related materials, you must register individually with the Harvard Alumni Association. Go to alumni.harvard.edu/x to register. (You will need your Harvard Alumni Association User ID and Password to register; if you do not have a Harvard Alumni Association User ID and Password, you will be prompted to create an account.) Registration for all alumni is open as of Monday, February 10, 2014. Following registration, you will be able to access the online videos and related materials individually and on your own schedule, as they are posted. All video lectures and associated readings are available at no cost.

If you also wish to participate in the Harvard Club of Minnesota-sponsored discussion groups that will meet to view and discuss the video lectures together, please register with the Club administrator at admin@harvardmn.org. It would be helpful (but not required—we know schedules change!) if you could indicate which discussion group sessions you are planning to attend. We will send email reminders prior to each discussion group meeting to everyone who has registered for any session. There will be no charge for these events. We hope that many of you will take this opportunity to sample and enjoy these varied and intellectually stimulating online lectures presented by celebrated Harvard faculty, whether you do so individually and on your own schedule, or as part of a Harvard Club of Minnesota discussion group.
