From the President...

November 26, 2019

As I begin my tenure as President of the Board of the Harvard Club of Minnesota, I would like to extend warmest holiday wishes to the Harvard community for Thanksgiving and beyond.

The Harvard Club of Minnesota strives to provide opportunities for Harvard alumni to connect with each other, participate in community activities, and engage in current events.  Although Club events range from the light-hearted to the serious, I’d like to think that we all agree in our commitment to be educated global citizens.

One of our most popular events is coming up next month – the annual Holiday Party.  This year’s Holiday Party will be Saturday, December 14, from 6:00pm-9:00pm.  Ann Hortillosa, our HBS chapter co-chair, and her husband Eric Pirius, have graciously agreed to host us at their beautiful home in Minnetonka.  This year’s Holiday Party will be the fourth time that Ann and Eric have hosted us, and we are grateful for their hospitality.

The Holiday Party is a member-only party. It is free of charge to Harvard Club of Minnesota members and one guest per member. It’s a wonderful, casual opportunity to meet fellow Harvard grads of all ages. The sign-up deadline is Wednesday, December 11. The address will only be sent to those on the registration list. Please go here to register.

As you think about year-end giving, please consider a gift to the Harvard Club of Minnesota Foundation. The Foundation provides scholarships to current students and funding for selected community leaders to attend a Harvard course. The Foundation also funds club events like Welcome to Your City and interviewer training, and provides funding, when available, to local charitable organizations that serve potential future Harvard students.  For FY 2019, the Foundation provided grants to Ballet Co.Laboratory, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Edina A Better Chance, Higher Ground Academy, and Project Success.  Information on how to donate is available here.

Another way to support the club as you do your holiday and year-round shopping is to place your Amazon orders through Amazon Smile and select the Harvard Club of Minnesota as the charitable organization of your choice.  Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible Amazon Smile purchases to the Club.  Donations will help us continue to provide excellent programming to the Minnesota Harvard Community.
